I became interested in photography back in 1980 when I received, as a gift, my first 35mm camera (Canon AV-1). Over the years I have tried to learn as much about photography as I can. I have read books, articles, and recently taken classes to help bring a more artistic angle to my work. Now my interests include wildlife, floral, landscape, still life, black and white, and portraits with a special interest in newborn babies. I started out shooting with both color and black & white film. Once digital photography became popular, it did not take me long to switch over and I have not looked back. My camera bag now holds only digital equipment which includes Canon's 7D, 40D, and the G12. My lens coverage is from 17mm to 400mm and I work with three 580 Canon Flashes. This equipment gives me the flexibility and ability to continue to grow my photography and drive my creativity.
I am proud to say that several of my photos have been recognized in the photography community. I have had a total of twenty-two photographs accepted into the photo exhibit at the Orange County Fair between 1995 and 2010. I took home Honorable Mention ribbons in 2002 for my "Flamingo," and in 2003 for my "Baby Makes Three" photos. In 2004 I won a First Place ribbon in the Professional Division, Children/Families Class, for my photo called, "Ooops"; and an Honorable Mention for my, "Lights Of Long Beach." In 2006 I won a Third Place Ribbon for my image, "In Good Hands." I was awarded my second Third Place Ribbon in 2007 for my image called, "Cradle of Life." In 2010 I won my fourth Honorable Mention Ribbon for my photo called, "Foothold."
I also regularly participate in Betterphoto.com's monthly photo contest. There I have placed as a finalist on Twenty-two separate occasions, and won two second place awards for my photos, "Ooops" and "Two Feet In Hands." In 2011 my photo called "Father and Son" was named Photo Of The Day on Father's Day. A second Photo of the Day came in October for my photo called, "Tuckered Out." What an honor that was. Also in 2011 my photo, "Ooops" was turned into a birthday greeting card by Avanti Press and distributed to their customers across the United States and Canada. These prize winning photographs can be found here on my website and in
my gallery on
Betterphoto.com. As you can imagine, these were milestones for my photography and very exciting times for me.
Now I embark on a new adventure, my very own website. My plans for this site is for it to be an avenue to share my passion for photography with others and to help anyone with their photography needs. There is nothing like having your image put a smile on someone's face or bring tears to their eyes. That is why I love what I do. If I can be of service to you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
All this would not be happening if it wasn’t for the love and support of my family and friends. I thank you all for your encouragement, and putting up with my picture taking over the years. I do have to say a special thank you to Mom and Dad, my sister Kim, and my best friend, "Rick” for everything they have done for me. In closing, I would like to dedicate this website to the memory of my Uncle Melvin “Web” Wilbert, whose gift of a camera started it all. I hope you enjoy my website and will pass it along to your family and friends.
